Angeline “Angie” Magilke Ettleman was born February 3, 1935 in Sioux County, North Dakota to George and Anna Schaffer Magilke and left her earthly home Friday evening March 13, 2026 at her residence surrounded by the love of her children.
Angie’s twin brother Gilbert had been born the evening before her birth on February 2, 1935. The young Magilke family moved to Minnesota where the third sibling Victor was born February 23, 1938 and by 1939 the Magilke family moved to Billings, Montana. Angie lived the rest of her life in Billings and was proud of her community. She collected news articles for years on the history of Billings, the Southside and Billings Senior High School.
Angie graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1953 and remained in contact with some of her classmates throughout her life. While still in high school, she began working in the office at Jasons Men’s Store.
On September 4, 1954, Angie married Anthony Wayne Ettleman and remained married over 66 years until Wayne’s passing on October 23, 2020. Together they welcomed their children Debora Ann, John Richard, Jay Patrick and Cory Gerard.
As her children grew older, Angie began a career in accounting in 1968 with Cosner and Wismeyer. The firm evolved through several partnerships over the years, and Angie continued serving clients faithfully until her retirement from C.A. Cosner, CPA at the end of 2009. She also worked at the fair and horse races between 1965 and 1985. Angie believed in hard work and giving back to her community, and she was actively involved in numerous fraternal and civic organizations throughout her life. She was proud of her memberships in Zelda Rebakah Lodge and Optimist Club of Big Sky Billings.
Faith was a foundation of Angie’s life. She received her First Communion and Confirmation, and later the Sacrament of Matrimony, all at Little Fower Catholic Church. In 1960, she and Wayne, with their young family, joined St. Pius X Parish, and later, in the 1990’s, she became a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral, where she loved attending daily Mass. Her deep spiritual life guided her through joy and challenges alike.
Angie was preceded in death by her parents George and Anna Magilke, her twin brother Gilbert, her brother Victor, her beloved husband Wayne and her infant son Cory.
She is survived by her daughter Debora (Frank); son John Richard and his children Jake Ettleman and Jessica (Matt) Schrotenboer great grandchildren Adalyn and Jeter Schrotenboer; Son Jay, daughter-in-law Jennifer and their children Zak, Ethan and Noah. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and cherished family friends.

“The Moment That You Left Me – my heart split in two. One side filled with memories, the other side died with you. I often lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheek. Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday; but missing you is a heartache that never goes away. I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain. You see life has gone on without you, but will never be the same.”
Mama, Grandma and GG – you are so loved and will be forever missed!
