What is OCIA?
OCIA stands for Order of Christian Initiation for Adults. It was previously known as RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults).
OCIA is designed for unbaptized adults who want to become Catholic. Baptized Christians from other denominations and baptized Catholics are also welcome to attend these sessions to learn, relearn about the Catholic faith. You are welcome to attend OCIA without making a formal intention to become Catholic.
OCIA culminates at the Easter Vigil (April 4, 2026) in which the following Sacraments are celebrated:
Baptism
Confirmation
First Eucharist
Those baptized Christians who wish to join the Catholic Church through a Profession of Faith will be receive Confirmation and Eucharist following their profession. This is often done in conjunction with those non-baptized who are welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil.
